A feast in a mall you ask; I know you would also be asking how would you really celebrate christmas in a mall? The answer is food… in fact food is the answer to everything!

A few fashion/lifestyle bloggers and I were invited to a sumptuous feast prepared by Chef Russell Impiazzi at Lafayette Gourmet in the Dubai Mall. I think Lafayette gourmet is one of Dubai’s best kept secrets… or maybe not. Have you visited their food market… they have everything, just name it… from quince to habanero peppers to ginormous tomatoes the size of my face, insane varieties of ham, and an even bigger assortment of cheeses… and all this under one roof! If you want quality food… this is it, your one stop shop for everything delicious.

Chef Impiazzi has fed his appetite for cooking ever since he was a kid, and the dishes really say it all. As the executive chef, his genius sits behind all the recipes.

We were served up a tasting menu with the starters compromising of some ‘Severn and Wye Scottish Smoked Salmon’ and some ‘Canadian Lobster and Prawn cocktail’. Our starters were beautifully presented and tasted even better.

Our Mains composed of a ‘Classic Whole roasted Turkey’ and ‘USDA Roast Prime Rib of Beef’. As soon as this was placed by our table a chorus of “awwws” ran along the table. A beautifully browned bird with a supremely tender beef were plated for us alongside some Yorkshire Pudding, fresh cranberry sauce, a white bread sauce and a pepper sauce. Our table was also scattered with some beautifully roasted potatoes, parsnips and carrots.

With bursting bellies we sat looking at our desserts coming in. A ‘Traditional Yule Log’, a ‘Traditional Christmas Pudding’ and some ‘Classic Mince Pies’ arrived at our table. The Christmas Pudding was simply divine with flavorful morsels of juicy fruits and nuts.

I would have never thought I would be able to dine in style with top quality food and in a mall! Lafayette is playing a different ball game altogether and has class and chic written all over it.

The great thing is that if you have got your hands tied this christmas, (it being the busiest time of the year)… all you got to do is prepare a guest list, while Lafayette Gourmet sorts the catering of a gourmet christmas dinner brought to you right at your door step.
