Celebration, Nomination and Sticky ‘Pork-you-mine’

What has Celebration, nomination and sticky pork got to do with each other? Nothing really, except my heart is doing little somersaults every time I look back at the word nomination beside my name. Before I continue on that nomination let me start with the celebratory news; with my one year blog anniversary fast approaching, I am just in the midst of a lot of new changes, for the blog and my personal life as well. With the likes of a new job (woooooo! oh my i’m excited) and a new house (wooooooo! some more excitement), my life is taking a  huge detour for the better. And to add to all this celebratory news.. ‘the nomination’ for a storytelling award.

The boo-boo that turned out Woo-hoo!

An experimental cook in the kitchen isn’t doing everything right if all the dishes are amazing and everything turns out the way you imagine it to be or the way its supposed to be; without the mistakes and little booboo’s here and there, its never a complete experience is it? Well not for me at least… and this is the story of how my wrong (which i can’t really pin point.. I really don’t know the science behind baking but I will assume that not reading the book properly had a huge part to play) turned out into something that was forgiving to say the least; quite forgiving if I may boast, colleagues at work were trying to breathe it in. Ready, Get set, Risotto!

I have been meaning to work on my first Risotto for about a year now; it was one of 2 food related new years resolutions, the second being baking bread… it will come, I am going to do it before the end of 2012 for sure. I have seen, heard and read about a lot of Risotto recipes; creamy delicious, broth drenched granules of rice. I had picked up my Arborio rice about 2-3 months ago… and snip snip, the packet was finally opened. Continue reading

Eggstatic for Easter

April is a great month! The smell of spring in the air in Dubai… well… there isn’t much of a spring, but there are a few blossoming flowers, an entertaining and debaucherous April Fool’s day to start off with and immediately followed with an Easter Celebration and then 3 huge birthdays tucked in between (mine, my mum’s and my bestie’s :) ) its going to be hard keeping track of what to celebrate when.
