This isn’t some gadget driven post, nor anything about hot air balloons or airplanes for that matter. This is something that I have struggled with and a majority of the women I know really battle out; for some more than others! It’s a war out there I tell you; a war between us and our appetites! My appetite is every growing.. the thought of food excites me; every time I come across an interesting recipe, there goes my mind choo-ing like an engine puffing steam trying to come up with an alteration on that recipe.. and the next thing I know is I find myself in the kitchen slurping a big bowl of another dish weighing me down!
I do eat healthy foods, use fresh ingredients, as organic as my wallet can afford and with extreme cautiousness and consideration of fatty foods. But there are a few things that I don’t do:
- Breakfast
- Eat more small meals a day
- Quantity Control
- and drinking sufficient water
The key is to not wholly eliminate any particular food category, and it isn’t to starve yourself either; but in fact its to eat whatever you want in limited quantities. Eating 1 meal a day doesn’t do anyone any good, its the worst thing you could do for your body; trust me I know a lot of people who do just that… yes you may see what may seem like a ‘positive result’ a loss of a few pounds, but what you are actually doing is putting your body in starvation mode and lowering your metabolism. This means that whenever your body does get a little extra it goes in the mindset of “hey, here’s some extra, lets save this for a rainy day” and immediately saves it as fat! Also Breakfast! – oh breakfast is a must! It is what shocks your body into motion and gets your metabolism going; it is THEE MOST important meal of your day. Last but not the least, fluids; not the sweetened, artificially flavored fluids… but water, plain and simple water; make sure you drink at least 1.5lt of water a day in the least; its really important for you, it flushes your toxins purifies you from the inside out and trust me when I say that you will see instant change in your energy levels, your skin, sight, nails and so forth.
So why am I having this rant… well I have started myself on “Lively“; (this post is not to advertise about their services and no they aren’t giving me any freebies either.) This is actually a documentation of my progress; I have managed to accept the fact that I don’t necessarily practice the right food habits, I don’t always have the time to come back home from work, run, jog, yoga and then follow up in a cooking escapade; I do love it, but I am absolutely drained.
What does Lively do? Well they package a meal plan for you in a cooler box depending on how many meals you have chosen for the day; depending on your calorie intake recommendation; depending on your metabolism, your muscle to fat ratio and a whole bunch of statistics and graphs that the nutritionist will baffle you with.

Hi Drina,
although you didn’t look to me like someone who has to loose weight, I wish you good luck with your project. Like you said: it’s not how you look, but how you feel. Changing eating habits doesn’t happen overnight. Education about nutrition is a good start. Will definitely follow your progress. I am curious to know how these nutrition/weight loss companies do their job. Do you have a specific plan of how are you going to put on 3kg of muscles?
Anja
Hey Anja,
Thanks for the support; although I may seem like I dont need to loose weight, I just felt like I could do better for myself and get myself in a fitter form, hence my challenge; also 5kg is a very small target for me I think and its enough to make me look healthy and fit.
And you are absolutely right; the light dinners that are scheduled for me are extremely hard to cope with, its a bad habit I need to fix.
About the muscle weight, I have started up on Bikram yoga for light toning and muscle development, I also run every other day to build up my stamina, I have also been instructed to weights but I dont like them; lets see how it goes, my next consult is in a week and I can have actual figures to compare with.
