If this cookbook is sitting in your kitchen I can assure you will be thinking, cooking and eating Lankan for a long long time. Thats the kind of spell it had put me under honestly. I went through my prized possession which I thankfully bought 2 of, eyeballed every single page, the photographs, the inspirational cuisine, the interesting spurts of writing scattered evenly; and I was injected with the Lankan bug. I cooked and dreamt of Lankan food for a whole 2 weeks. Not necessarily any specific recipes, but I had a natural reflex to reach for the freshly grated coconut while stirring any of my brewing gravy’s; I constantly tried to manipulate fruits to stand in my dish as veggies and everything had a spiced craze to it. Celebration, Nomination and Sticky ‘Pork-you-mine’
What has Celebration, nomination and sticky pork got to do with each other? Nothing really, except my heart is doing little somersaults every time I look back at the word nomination beside my name. Before I continue on that nomination let me start with the celebratory news; with my one year blog anniversary fast approaching, I am just in the midst of a lot of new changes, for the blog and my personal life as well. With the likes of a new job (woooooo! oh my i’m excited) and a new house (wooooooo! some more excitement), my life is taking a huge detour for the better. And to add to all this celebratory news.. ‘the nomination’ for a storytelling award.
❀ Celebrating my mom ❀ with a Sourak
It’s terrible, I have been so busy with so many things , I believe I am getting ahead of myself and trying to fit a 28 hour day into a 24 hour day. If it isn’t midnight work hours or socializing or cooking its taking care of Sasha or endless chores or running errands to sort out the bills; at any given time there is something or the other. I truly admire the women with babies in their arms, managing a whole household, working during the day and still making sure the family sits together at the dinner table with their favorite dishes in front of them. How do you do it? Continue reading
Racing with time… But I’m Catching up
I’m on a Diet! Get me my salad!
Food is always on my mind regardless of where I am, even more so when I travel cause I am so nosey and just have to know what everything tastes like.. well as long as it looks appetizing atleast. I stay away from things that still move… *shiver* . I had visited Nepal and they definitely didn’t have any live foods in sight, but infact they did have scrumptions amounts of Momos, and I will tell you more about them in my upcoming post. So now I feel terrible about my weight gain in Nepal, hence the last few posts have been focussed on getting me to shed those pounds; including a strenuous bootcamp at 6 in the a.m. plus running for 30-45 minutes and a whole lot of leaf eating… granted it isn’t really working, but atleast I can say I tried.
This delicious Courgette Salad was a creation contributed towards the Mystery Box Challenge. Continue reading
A Snappin Red Snappa!
It was a seafood saturday and well i needed to pop up one last dish for the mystery box challenge. So here’s another thing I worked on for Kari’s mystery box challenge; its a real late posting, but better late than never.
Make room for Mushroooom!
My posts are piling up in my head and in about a couple days I wont be able to breathe… But its coming… slowly but surely…Blogging is a full time job and it ain’t no joke. I feel like I need a machine or someone who can record my thoughts, click pictures with just a glance of the dish and spew out blog posts with a 2sec upload time. Sigh! … I’m asking too much aren’t I? Oh well enough of whining and feast your eyes on another recipe created for the mystery box challenge set up by Kari.
